Translation = Charge what the market in your area will bear.
Insurance companies though, typically do not pay for repairs over the size of a dollar bill.
So, crack repairs are typically cash jobs.
I'm sure some of the crack repair guys will jump on and give us examples of what they charge.
Guys?

I do a good number of cracks. I settle on a price after looking at the length, difficulty and value of windshield. Price starts at $40 for a short and easy one and goes up to $70-75. Mercedes, BMW and the like can go higher. There are people here on the forum charging much, much more on RV's and you have to take all factors into account. I have had amazing results on fresh cracks.

I generaly pass on cracks dont think it good for the buisness that said I had a guy with a big bus motorhome beg me to fix his I guess the windshield is a couple thousand $ lower half heated he said the MH cost $750,000 HUH? anyway told him I would fix his 10 inch crack that had been 2 inches less than an hour ago for $250 he was so happy i think he would have loaned me the wife as well. (as a side note you would think if a guy is standing on a ladder working on the windshield you wouldnt walk aroundinside dressed that way) rich people are wierd. so i guess its all what the market will bear or the customer will bare?

That is funny Starz.
Why do I fix cracks? I would love to fix chips all day every day and get $50 a piece for them! The problem is when customers procrastinate and let the chip go. Thankfully we still have an effective solution for them that benefits us both. Crack repair on fresh cracks, DONE CORRECTLY, yields great results. Now, I don't think car lots would be interested in it for dealer prep but the everyday consumer is pleased with the results. In an area with massive amounts of stone damage it is actually more sensible than disposable shields. I met a guy one time, before I figured out how to do cracks, who was on shield #7 on his late model minivan! That guy was in need of a crack fix!

That is called job benifits, I live in bikini world and allways have the customer turn the a/c on high if they want to wait in the car.

Scratchy and Screenman, you both deserve awards for your contributions here. (probably the only two who never run from the crack repair subject)
Hey Jeff, let's get these guys their First Annual Glass Contribution Awards. (nice ring to that name)

Truth be told... I am way new at this. I am just sharing what I find on a daily basis. Some of the guys that are making INSANE amounts of money in WSR are too busy to post anything!!! When they come back to the forum, (and lets hope they do) I will get out of the way and let the Pros have the last word!!! You guys know who you are!
I have a theory and thats all it is. The tips to making big money in WSR haven't really been shared on the forum and probably won't ever to a large extent. Some of it is touched on by word of mouth in Delta training by those who know but as far as posting it for John Q Public to see on an open net forum, I don't think it will happen. Even more incentive for people to go to Delta training I guess. Just my opinion, no flames please.
