Positive Mental Attitude

I find the biggest hurdle most have to overcome is a bad attitude or negative outlook if someone tells you no or is rude just smile and wish them a nice day knowing that thier Windshield will crack out and you win anyway dont let dumb people wittle away at your brain.
I think most people take every no to heart and let this get them down and in doing so ruin thier attitude for the rest of the day. I learned along time ago every no just means your closer to the next yes. My advice to the new or even the successful but slowing down salesperson would be to buy some sales books and try some of the techniques they push you would be surprised what the old" check up from the neck up" will do. Think about it if you can get over the fear of walking up to a stranger and asking them for a repair and also get over the negative crap that you feel when they say no this job becomes a free money situation.
This year I have been doing cold calling rather than the Carwash I was at last winter I read here that others do this with great success and having a background in sales thought what the hey after a little fine tuning of the sales technique and closing skills I find myself working about 3 hrs a day and clearing $600-$800 a week could I make more sure but im happy with what I make and dont really work very hard anymore when the snow comes I may consider working the carwash again but not with the frequency I did last winter if the days sunny knocking on doors will be where im at.

Good post GlassStarz, a good positive attitude will go a long way in this business. If you can't have fun and keep a smile on all day, your take home dollars will suffer.

I have found this works with the exact same results in my area. Some people (customers) just hate being on the receiving end of cold calling and it does get to me sometimes, maybe one in 10. On the positive side it does bring consistent results. Gotta luv it!

GlassStarz,

Your absolutely right, displaying a positive attitude everyday will eventually promote your success. One other important element for becoming successful in repair is simply being persistant, especially when trying to land some profitable new fleet accounts. It's very difficult to break the ice with these guys only after a few visits. It may take up to 2 months of weekly stops (same day around same time) before they'll even accept your services.
