What Is The Typical Price To Charge For Fleets With About 50 Vehicles Or School Buses ? Additionally Is The Amount Per Repair Plus Additional As In Insurance Jobs Or Is It Per Windshield Reguardless Of The Number Of Chips To Repair ?

What to charge a fleet account can have many variables. The most important of which is how many vehicles they have. For a fleet with fifty vvehicles like this one I would probably give a 15-20% discount off of the rates you get for an insurance job. You may want to give them a little more off depending on what the going rates are where you are. I wish more people would fill out profile info, it would help in giving opinions to marketing questions. What part of the country you are in, and how big a town you're in make a difference.

Hi Bruce,
As a newbi to the business myself I have aquired a few fleet accounts. In my area NC 35.00 is what I charge, I have been told that others charged as little as 25.00 to 30.00 but the fact is I am doing the repairs. My point is do not sell yourself short because the person you are dealing with quotes you a price they got it for from a guy that is no longer doing repairs.
Things to consider when pricing.
1. how many windshields will you do per visit. if only one or two and feel comfortable to add an extra 5 to 10 dollars for extra chips go for it. I do not do this but you might feel comfortable doing it.
If you do 6 to 10 and get 35.00 per windshield no matter how many repairs you do then do not add the extra. One of my accounts I only charge 30.00 per windsheild but on the average I do 8 repairs a week for them. Its all in the math. today I did 10 last week 6 I figure that is a good days work about 6 hours on the average day there.
2. Why would they use you over some one else? your new, inexperienced, but a nice guy? obviously they NEED YOU the last guy came and went. be consistant! always show up, always say hi, even if no repairs are needed that day, next week will be different.
3. drive time is important to figure in as well, in my area I can hit 5 dealerships in 1 hour and usually find a couple of repairs. do not spend all day driving around visiting. I have found that when I go to a fleet account I will park walk the lot find the ones needing repairs and then go in to say hi and visit, a lot of times they will say I do not have anything today,,, until you show them what really needs to be done.
4. compitition, who is doing repairs in your area, and for how much, are they any good? can you be competitive and still make a living, if not go for the retail end of it.

My version of what to charge my fleet customer is simple whatever I think they will pay. Some put more value on WR than others most of the ones I do had no one doing it when I arrived. So in some cases I went in low ($10) just to get in the door and show them the value but let them know this is a special one time price.
Some I walk the lot and then tell them a flat price for the whole bunch that day. For example I did a small used car lot this week saw 6 cars with 9 breaks walked in said hi told him I would do them all for $150 i was there less than 2 hrs I do him twice a month but get several insurance jobs a month from his referals one hand washes the other. I figure this one guy pays my gas and insurance for the month.

I have an account with a major trucking company with a dedicated fleet of about 90 Freightliner Tractor. I Charge them $45 per windshield ($90 per Truck). I am also an employee of this company. I figured the cost of the glass for them plus the labor charge for replacement and underbid this substantially. This makes me money and saves them a ton of money. If I am not satisfied with the quality of the repair I will give them a discount on that one or sometimes not charge them for it.
