Could someone please give me some information on companies that sell repair kits. I was online filling out apllications for MARS. Does anyone know if they are reputable, or are there better ways to start?

Welcome to the forum Kev!
I'm not sure what MARS is, care to expand a bit?
Also, we have a search feature on the bar across the top that will definitely help regarding equipment manufacturers.

MARS is a company that actually contacted me for a Business opportinity. (I think what they do is go on to Hot Jobs and send thier info to people looking for a job). You could either work directly for them or start your own franchise(Which was very expensive), I was interested in chip repair before thier contact. MARS also has paint scratch repair, 24k gold electroplating, as well as dent repair. I am pretty sure they are out of Texas. If you are interested in them, I do believe their on the web at
http://www.marsinternational.com. I no absolutly nothing about the chip repair business and do not want to get taken for a ride.
Thank you for responding so quickly

I don't know anything about MARS but in my opinion chip repair is such an easy start up I wouldn't pay anyone franchise fees.

Hey Kev,
I am new to all of this, too.... I've recently done a significant amount of research and ended up choosing Delta Kits as my supplier for windshield chip repair tools & supplies (I've also looked at M.A.R.S. International--too great of an investment for me; I don't want to be owned by the additional debt, I already have enough debt as it is). I decided to start out offering primarily one service until I feel I have mastered it, then I will look at adding additional services or hiring people with the additional skills that I feel my business will need.
I purchased a great plan from Impact Marketing (
http://www.rockchipcash.com/) that I'm finding to be very helpful. I would recommend that you consider investing in a detailed information package such as that before you get too carried away with your business plans. Common sence will tell you to overlook all the hype of making $160 an hour (or whatever) even though it may be possible, I feel that it is highly unlikely to do it hour after hour, day after day. Anything worthwhile requires commitment, dedication, persistance, and work.
When it comes to W.S.R., I'm certainly NOT the one to get advice from, as I have NO experience. My business will begin full force on Jan. 1st, 2005. I'm in the process of getting all my ducks in a row. I just activated my business phone and my dedicated FAX line, and received my Federal E.I.N. today. I am also trying to get set up to handle insurace jobs (I spoke with Safelite today, but didn't have any luck with the others, yet). My business name has been registered in my county & I am now designing a logo so I can get my business cards, invoices, ads, & lettering done on my truck.
I'm havin' fun, but it will be more fun once I start makin' some money rather than spendin' it....

Good luck L8 and Kev! I've only been at WSR since 8-03 and I find the work very rewarding. My situation is unusual. I am at home with my son alot so I don't get out as much as I would like to and work!! I still do ok money wise but this year coming he goes to school and I will get out there alot more. This work has allowed me to do the stay at home dad thing and still make enough to eat and it will only improve as time goes by. I reap as I sow Sooo....

There is no need to go with MARS, you can learn wsr from Delta and save a ton of money. Mars is geared more to paint touchup and dents, these business oppurtunities type places make alot of money from the people they recruit.

Hey Kev,
I checked out your MARS site. Although I found it to be well constructed, I'd suggest staying clear of it! Little too spooky for my comfort.
Stick around here for awhile, read as many post as you can, post any questions you my have and enjoy. Your dealing with real people on here and they will speak the truth.

I went to the web site that L8Model linked, It might actually be the first one I have seen that would make sense for someone just starting out or the current tech who wants to boost thier sales. If only 10% of his claims pan out it would be worth $150 (heck thats only 3 repairs) combine that with all the info here you ought to be able to make a go of this. Just remember you are going into the Sales Buisness WR is just the product you are selling.
Good Luck
