after my first 10 repairs

I recieved my EZK-101 kit about a week ago. I watched the video, and read the booklet. Then, I went to a replacement shop across the street from the dealership I work at, and asked if they would give me a junk windshield. I wasn't going to say what I needed it for unless they asked, sure enough they asked, and I told them. As you might of guessed, they told me no. No biggie though, about a hour later, the mobile replacement tech that does our used car windshields strolled through our lot, and he was more than willing to give me a practice screen. He told me there was more where that came from, and once I've improved my skill we could work out a referrel system.

Anyhoot, I've done about 10 repairs, mostly stars, and a couple combos. I've found that bullseyes our alittle difficult to make. My repairs our getting better, and I have learned alot. The biggest thing that i've learned is that I need professional training. I'll be keeping a eye out for Delta's on the road training, hopefully they pass around Lake Charles Louisiana area, maybe Houston our New Orleans even. If you guys plan a training course in my neck of the woods, sign me up! until then i'm gonna keep on practicing.

The biggest problem's i'm facing is alittle black (air) in the finished repair when looking at certain angles. I also have a issue with opening tight legs in some stars, most legs open and fill perfect, but their always seems to be one that acts funny. I apply alittle heat at the beginning of the repair, and flex the crack from outside, it seems to be opening, but my end result is a unfilled leg. The last problem I'm struggling with is ending a crack from spreading. Everytime I drill my hole at the end of the leg, the crack extends a quarter inch past my drill hole. I would like to ask where some of you part timers keep your kits. I work at a dealership, and I would like to have my kit handy with me at all times, in my trunk or backseat. I live in southeast Lousiana and it gets hot here to say the lease (100f-110f) in summer time, and i'm sure it's alot hotter than that in my car. I imagine these our not ideal storage conditions for the resins. I have learned to not use the dropper as a cap to the resin, as it has made one of my droppers come apart, luckly I didn't lose any resin. I saw the man in the video returned his bottle back to the kit with the dropper screwed on as a cap, so I figured it would be ok. No biggie I'll just use the screw cap in the future. But should I not keep my kit in these kind of conditions?

Thanks for any advice, and I'll be looking forward to Delta's training. Until then i'll continue educating myself in the forum archives. Good stuff here!

Kevin,

We'll definitely keep you up to date when we announce our training schedule. Also, give me a call on Monday for tech support, I think we can fix a few of the problems you're having. Also, let me know and I can send out an extra dropper with your next order. Unfortunately, when the video was made, putting the dropper back on the bottle slipped through the editing process.

For future reference, do NOT use the droppers as caps. The bulb is rubber, and will, over time be affected by the resin, and you could have a mess. Used appropriately, the droppers will last at least as long as your bottle of resin, so there shouldn't be a problem.

In any case, when you call, let me know so I can get you a new one!

Take care,
