Resin Test

First let me say that I am by no means a resin expert or the best tech out there. I do consider myself extremely good and I think we have the best repairs in town. We have been in business for 5 years and focus on fleet work and we also do all the repairs for another local glass shop here.
In the past I had asked Jeff to send me some resin samples. He sent them and they gelled. I again asked for more and he sent and they gelled. I pretty much had my fill of Delta for the time. So over the years I had tried resins and had skin problems and had settled on 2 brands of resins Glas Weld and GT.
To make a long story short I have been pretty much active on this forum and others and really only responding to glas weld replies and SECRETLY emailing Jeff and pm's and were sent back and forth.I did do the chat back when Coister had it set up.
We built our new house and during this time my only really contact here was with Jeff. He has tried hard to convert me to Delta and he would ask me to reply to glas weld questions. I always offered my opinions and dealing as we have both had the schools and now have 5 pro vacs- 2 Pro Vac 2000's and 3 of the older Pro VAcs. Now if I could just get Jeff to send me a loaner or a trade in Delta injector to test.
FAst FORWARD

I asked Jeff to send me more samples of his resins and this time they came in bottles. The last samples he sent were in syringes and this caused the gelling due to uv exposure.
I have to say his pit polish is the best I have ever used to get the perfect blending of the repair to match the glass. The MAgniBond has produced well in EVERY repair I have used it with. I have not really used much of the premium due to the acid content as I don't wear gloves anymore and didn't want anymore skin problems. I went to a dermatologist for a year to get my hands cleared up from some of the snake oil resins out there. Cortizone shots and creams and no problems anymore.
I used to wear gloves until about a month ago. And I only used quality medical gloves and not Nitrile. My problem with the gloves is that I may be at an account for a couple of hours and here it is already in the 90-98 degrees and was sweating a lot in them. My only real test left is how the magnibond will affect my hands.
This magni bond has filled stars, batwings, small bullseyes, and combos perfectly. I had a chance to fill a really huge combo yesterday but went with my other resins that I knew was thicker due to the heat and size of the break, it was huge hence the thicker resin. I wanted to try the magnibond but this repair was on a friends new Z71 and he is really particular with his truck. My only concern left for the magnibond is the big bullseyes and combos where I would normally use a very thick resin.
I have had somewhat of a small problem with Delta's pit filler and it is due to being thinner than what I am used to. As hot as it is here as soon as I uncap it the filler is coming out and I am using way to much and have had some air bubbles in it. I have talked back and forth with Jeff since trying these samples and he is sending some more thicker pit filler. Plate glass filler or something for me to try along with some more magnibond due to me still being skeptical.
I also got my candy.Jeff has bent over backwards to convert me to his resins and equipment. I am impressed with a one resin for all breaks. I have tried the Esprit but it is pricey at about $100.00 per ounce. It is good but not feasible for fleet work. The hiding capabilities of the magnibond is good on new breaks and I haven't really tried any old or dirty breaks but they will come when dealing with fleets. I have yet to try a crack with the manibond and some of you Delta guys I am hoping will chime in about the cracks and bigger bullseyes and combos.
My questions to the delta users is about the big breaks where I would use my thicker resins instead of the one resin for all breaks. How do you all approach this type of repair.
I can fix breaks in as little as 5 or 10 minutes with my current injectors and have had some take as long as 45 minutes if they have some long legs and lots of them. I work the break not the clock as we strive for happy customers.
We have been lucky in this business as we have been members of Corvette clubs and hot rod clubs and I grew up in the car business so I already had the contacts in the car business so really we just gave them quality repairs and service and the rest has been easy. We bought the Ron CInron course and it has payed off also.
This thread is NOT meant to bash a certain brand or a I am better than you I am just reporting my findings the Delta resins and am hopeing some of you loyal Delta techs will give me your findings on the cracks and bigger breaks as for the filling and hiding capabilties on the one resin for all breaks concept.

Thanks for sharing all your test info GlassWeldTech! I test different stuff all the time, including Delta's resin products. My findings have shown their resins to be above par from other suppliers I've tested. Their overall service rates higher then any other company I've been involved with. I must honestly admit though, I'm part of a franchise where their resins provide the quality I need....and at a much lower price. It's not that Delta provides any less in quality, it has more to do with my current pricing!

Resin sensitivity? I'm one of those skin sensitive people that can't work with high acid based resins. I was ready to give this biz up a year ago because of some severe breakouts. At one point it got so bad, I thought my WSR tech days were over.....couldn't even write a invoice cause hands were so damaged. I always wore the nitrile gloves to make sure I didn't have resin contact but here's what happend,,,,,,,turns out I was more skin sensistive to using these gloves then the resins!!! Go figure?

If you have any skin sensistivity, please do yourself a favor and purchase the low acid base resins. They perform well enough to keep your accounts and customers happy. Not to plug Delta but their low acid based resins perform nicely!
