Hurricane Relief Fund

Everyone,
I work in Lafayette Louisiana, about 120 miles west of New Orleans. I'm sure you've seen the devistation of the areas that took a direct hit from Hurricane Katrina. We have refugees who fled that horrible storm staying in many shelters in my area. They have loved ones they left behind and have no way of knowing where they are, they've lost everything, and they can't return home (or whatever is left of a home), in some cases for months. So I'd like to propose that each one of us take the profits from one windshield repair and donate it to the Red Cross and specify to them that it is to help the hurricane victims.
I'd really like to collect the funds myself and distribute it to a local shelter (The Cajundome), that is housing right now about 1500 people. The reason is, that it can be used for their immediate needs. But The Red Cross is an organization we can all trust. I've seen them in action when we got a direct hit from hurricane Lilly in October 2003 (a category 3 storm, but very scarry noe the less).
Maybe we could all do this once a week for about three months or so.
Please respond with your comments and/or suggestions. Lets decide by the end of this week, and then let's do it. These folks are in dire need.
Thanks!
