Contacts in South Texas

Post by stresslessone »

Hello all, I must say thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their knowledge with the rest of us. Nothing beats experience. After spending the last 15 years as an ASE Master Technician working on making A few Chrysler,Dodge,Jeep dealerships a whole lot O' money. I have decided to make windshield repair my fulltime career. I have been doin wr on an every so often basis. I am wondering if there is anyone in the San Antonio or Austin area that is willing to let me tag along with them for a couple of days. I am willing to provide your gas for the duration or what ever you think is fair. I would like to get up to date on the structure of daily business as a wr tech. Feel free to holler if I can help you in the automotive diagnostic & repair relm. Thanks, Bryan

Perfect timing!

2005 Jeep Rubicon:

Whenever I get her up to the 90mph mark, she seems to choke/hesitate for a few moments. Cruise Control is on at the time, but is set to 70MPH and I am overriding by manually using the accelerator pedal, usually to pass some slow trucker.

Does my eprom need to be re-flashed? Any TSB's that you may be aware of regarding this issue?

While the vehicle is, naturally, still under warranty, I do not want to spend days at the dealership resolving a problem that they may insist exists "only in my mind;)"

All in all, I like the vehicle, but I am a bit concerned when power can not be called upon when needed.

Jeff,

I promise, the only time(s) I ever exceed the legal speed limit is when I am driving under the influence of some mind/mood altering substance;)

Feel safe in visiting TN. If the thought of me cruising at 90 in a Rubicon sounds scarey, at least I'm not cruisin' at the same speed in the (recently sold) dually!

Heck here I drive 140 regularly and got a ticket this summer fro 187(oops sorry thats only 110 miles per hour) an experiance my pocket book is not willing to replicate again(ticket of $658 + an extra $400 when i renew my licence) . Dave your business must be doing well if you can afford the gas at 90mph in the Jeep.

Enjoy

Dave, I checked for any tsb's and there were none. I'm not sure, but the Rubicon may be programmed to initiate a fuel/spark arrest at 90mph. This may be due to the tires not being rated for that speed(or chrysler says they aren't). I had a cummins diesel that was getting an eronneous speed conversion inside the cummins controller at certain times, only that module was reading 117 mph and the injection pump was being shut off. Chrysler told me it was a built in program to shut it off due to the fact that those tires were not rated to that speed. Once I replaced the module, problem fixed. I am anxious to know if this happens without the cruise on, and if it only happens on accel or at a steady throttle at 90mph. The dealer can only flash for specific tsb's and I do not believe many techs will take a Rubicon to that speed for diagnostics. I hope I helped some. Thanks, Bryan
