Marketing To Garages

In another post about vehicle inspections, I brought up marketing WSR to local garages. I thought it would get lost under the other thread so I gave it its own.

Is anybody marketing their service to garages?

What marketing approach worked for you?

What terms and conditions did you workout?

Any other info you would like to share with the community would be greatly appreciated by all.

Pay it forward,
Brian

We market to garages(ie the little corner service centre up to the multi-bay mega garage) quite simply, we aim at thier wallet.

When we do our initial approach we ask the owner if we can give him/her $1000, the answer is usualy yes, and you have his/her attention for about 1 min. We then state that if they call us once a week for a year they will make $1000 profit. We charge them $40 per repair and they charge $60(or more in some markets) to there customer, netting them $20 per repair. We affix a colourfull, informative poster stating that this garage repairs windshields in there waiting room or somewhere else that the clients can see. The poster does the selling instead of the counter person(the customer asks them to fix the Ws instaed of them asking the customer if the glass is broken. We garentee that if they call us before 10 am we will fix it before 4 pm the same day. Once the ball is rolling and they see that they are indeed making money from your visits, you are treated as a king/queen, and they start selling the repairs allong with the poster. A small 2 bay garage is usually good for 3-4 repairs a week.

At your service

Enjoy

Thank you for the insight. Now that I am getting the wheels rolling again with the business I will be persuing this. My area has a lot of garages and in my research I have not found one that offers WSR service. I think the biggest problem will be getting in.

Anyone else have good luck or bad with this area?

I do work at garages also. Being a one man show it can be hard to get there the same day. What they will do is pass along my card. I will do the repair, charge retail and give the difference between wholesale to the owner. I dont get a huge number of calls but I do get some. Repare-brise marketing idea sounds good. I like the poster idea. What do people do when their sitting in a service waiting area? Read eveything to pass the time!
