Question on curing tape and tabs

Hi,
I have just recently joined the forum. I am most amazed at the great deal of information available here! There are some excellent posts. In fact after quite a bit of reading I have found many answers to just about all of my questions and more. Thanks to those who are willing to share those "small' trade secrets that make a job perfect!
Windscreen repair supplies are not so readily available here South Africa and the shipping rates from the USA are sometimes more than the cost of the item.
I have two questions, can one substitute or make own curing tabs by cutting up overhead projector transparencies and if so which would be better, laser printer or inkjet printer type? For curing tape can one use ordinary household cellophone wrapping? I was thinking of just cutting the roll to size?
Thanks
ChipRite

The overhead material works very well, and you will find about any clear material will do in a pinch. I have used a portion of a sandwich bag when I found out I had run out of tabs on a job site.

Try different material that is available to you there. The overhead material is my personal favorite, but a bit costly.

best of luck to you!!

Maybe a bit costly but you can reuse them over and over again. One sheet will last over a yr.

Excellent point on the reusability of the tabs, if a person is a bit careful they can be used quite a few times if they are not contaminated.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the tabs and rolls that Delta Kits provides, are designed to block the UV light.

Then they would be called anti cure tabs instead of curing tabs

just my opinion but anyone who is this worried about the cost of curing tabs should re-think there decision to go into business for themselves.

They are how expensive? 10 cents a piece or something right? You use them 10-20 times thats less than a penny per repair. And you guys are spending all this effort trying to make it cheaper?

its nice that you use the forum DELTA provides to try to find ways to not buy there products, and save one quarter of one cent per repair.

How about supporting companies that support us? Last I checked, DELTA did not charge anyone for all the information here.

just my opinion.
