Soon I will be checking into renting a spot or two in some parking lots in my town. Just wondering if guys could give me some ideas on what to expect to pay. I really don't have an amount in my head at all. I realize it probably varies all over the country but somebody should be able to give me an idea. If it matters I live in Michigan. thanks for any help

If you feel you will do well it won't hurt to give them a flat rent. What you pay is what you feel you can get away with paying. It has to be worth there while and yours. that's why paying a certain amount per job might be good. 3 - 6 seems fair.
GOOD LUCK!

Well thats kinda what I was thinking but I didn't know if a business would go for that. If they would feel I would be cheating them or something. I was thinking of contacting the local Human society that has a nice emptly lot attached to them. I was gonna offer to donate 10.00 from every repair for the use of there space. There are thousands of cars that would go by daily I am sure some would have chips they would want fixed.

tooldini,
The idea of renting space from the Human Society sounds great. Play it up and advertise that you're donating money from each repair. This may bring more customers.

Any more ideas? Do normally you pay inadvance or do you think some places let you pay per job at the end of the day? Just wanting some ideas on prices I may have to pay.

Just an idea guys. Work out a temperary agreement with the person you are renting space from. You say lets try this out for 1 month and see how it goes. If you are getting a lot of business then offer some more for rent. That way they won't feel taken. Its all about testing. You don't want to start off offering a large amount. Remember test, test, test.

I think rents vary if the location has high traffic then its worth more. For myself I would think about 10% of the total is fair
