Cold Calls

Do you guys check with that "National Do Not Call List" thing, before you call people? Or you guys are not even worrying about that?

We don't do cold calls, and to be really frank if someone called me I would hang up. Sorry my opinion. Dawn

I am very happy about the Do Not Call List. Personaly I can't stand getting calls when I am sitting down to dinner and some guy calls me asks me if I need some hemoroid medicine or whatever it is he is selling that I don't want. However that being said..... the do not call list was designed for calling people at home. I hate calling people at home. I deal with business's and only call business's. As for how I call and what I say that I won't comment on. Just know that you can still talk to people in their place of business. If any law was ever to be made that stoped business's from conducting business on a day to day basis you had better move to another country because the free enterprise system is dead at that point. Of course then you can become a socialist. :(

I think retail cold calling is just begging for work unless you like getting doors shut in your face.II'l only be calling on some businesses and not people in there homes.I want my work and some ads do the selling for me.Word of mouth is the best you can get as far as I am concerned.

I think Residential cold calling is nuts. I only do Business cold calling.

What do you think about calling your old (and young) customers and asking asking them if they have another ding on their windshield? You have estabished a customer base and there should be no problem following up a year or two later. If you did a good job I feel that your call would be a friendly service that could provide you will more work. Of course if you did a bad job you will know for sure that your work sucks and you should get out of the business or seriously think about what your are doing to make your repairs last for ever. You never stop learning. Wow!...I love this business!

There is no nation Dont Call list for buisnesses only homes. If you are calling homes you are wasting your time. Usually when we refer to Cold Calls it is making an unanounced visit to a customer but some do call the potential fleet customer on the phone to get an appointment

Instead of calling your customer base, why not send out a nice letter. Maybe a customer appreciation month. Give them something or a certain percentage off for getting their windshield damage repair during a specific time frame. Ask them to refer a friend or family member and give them $5.00 off their next cash repair if you service their referral. Be creative and inventive in your letter. Send them a new business card or maginet.

This method seems much less abrasive and you don't have to worry about the do not call list.

Just another alternative!

i have a technique that i found in a great book that you all may find helpful. first within 48 hrs of doing a repair send a thank you post card . it costs half as much as sending a letter. next after 30 days call and ask how your work is holding up and if they are satisfied with the service (don't try to sell anything else at this point). this does three things 1. let's the customer know you take pride in your work. 2. gives you a shot in the arm of confidence when your good work is reaffirmed. 3. keeps you in the cusomers mind as someone who does good work and provides impecible customer service which you can be sure they'll tell their friends about. (everyone likes being the hero who brings the news of a great service that their friends had no idea about). then after 90 days write or call back with your latest special that they may be interested in.
