Free repairs done in 10 minutes?

There is a guy in the Toledo area advertising to do repairs in 10 minutes. He is using some pump type system because I see hoses and a hand pump type device. Is it possible to do a repair in 10 minutes? I could see maybe getting close to that with a simple bullseye. He seems to be busy every time I see him. Are the pump systems fast I don't see it being any faster myself but I have never used one? Just kinda seems like a bad way to advertise saying free and done in 10 minutes. There are too many things that would make it take longer and maybe make customers angry, and also the free thing isn't free unless customer wants to bill insurance and many are scared. I think thats why I like the idea of putting free ask for details like the delta banners say. This guy is not competition so I should just stop in and ask questions.

I would say yes it is possible to do A repair in 10 minutes. A meaning SIMPLE small batwing or bullseye, something like this is possible. I practise quality over speed. I usually do a break in about 15-20 minutes. I have done several where I COULD have just done 1 vacuum and 1 pressure cycle and then cured, scraped and polished. This is NOT the norm. I have also had some large Stars that have taken close to 45-50 minutes before I was satisfied. I do not use hand pumps and hoses and don't really see a need for all that. I am in this full time and have been for over 6 years and I take as much time as the break needs. But to answer your question I suppose it is possible and likely that there are some that do this more often than not but I have built our business up for quality, friendly and lasting service.

Thats kinda what I thought. I have had several that I thought I could just do 1 cycle each and then cure but have done two to make sure LOL. Just seemed weird to advertise like that knowing that 10 minutes is not normal. I use the same system as you I think so we should be on the same wave length. I would never promote 10 minute repairs. I had one done on my vehicross 4 years ago and it looked bad in under 2 months. It took the guy somewere under 10 minutes to complete LOL. thanks for the help
if you can check out my new website and see if I need to do anything else to it http://www.repairchips.net

I see repairs all the time that look terrible, star breaks with the legs only half filled, combination breaks where it appears that the resin only filled part of the bullseye and nothing in the legs. The main reason for such poor quality repairs in my opinion is that not enough time is spent on these breaks. On average a repair should take from 20 to 30 minutes, from the time you start the job to the time you clean the windshield when you are done. Sometimes you run into a repair that you can do in less time and sometimes you find one that can take alot longer as was mentioned.

I agree with you CV I have spent as much as 1 hour and even a little more on some that required much tweaking LOL. I tried to get some locations for a tent today and got shot down by two ma and pa stores :( that was a bummer I thought they were gonna be easy.

Everyone wants to put a number on how long a repair takes, but the bottom line is that it takes whatever time necessary to completely fill the break with resin, remove the air, cure thoroughly, and finish properly. Sometimes that is 10 minutes and sometimes it is 30 minutes or more.

Unfortunately the windshield repair industry suffers from some overly creative advertising practices at times. You guys keep preaching quality over quantity and the industry will be much better for it.

Your right Brent. I think I was just mainly thinking of customers getting angry. I don't like having to make excuses if something isn't the way you advertise it. Of course I won't advertise like that :)

I agree. Understate and overachieve I say. It may be a slower way to success, but a much more sure way to get there in the long run.

Most people dont understand this is a sales job with the product being WR basic sales 101 would tell you to get a customer in the door is all important and to relay to them that its quick and easy with an advertised 10 minute repair is just good salesmanship obviosly very few take 10 minutes. whether its a quicky lube or haircut place they all use this technique the pitch onc the customer is there is simple wow this one will take a little longer than most but i think you will be real happy with the result SOLD
Live body in front of you results in sales people driving by thinking I will stop off there next time I have a half hour to waste doesnt
