Just wanted to know how you technicians start the process of repairing a windshield?

If its an unsurance work...do you get the insurance information from the customer first and call to verify insurance status...such as waiving the deductible?

Do you start the job and get all the insurance information afterwards?

Im just curios as to how some of you guys that's been in the business do your process of repairing a windshield.

Thank you, all information will be greatly appreciated.

Rudy

After I've sold them on the idea of 'free w.s.r', I usually tell them I'll get started on the repair and we can call their insurance while the repair is in progress and I'll ask for their insurance I.D. card. After the equipment is on the chip, I'll copy all the necessary info. from the card to the invoice (v.i.n.#, yr., make, model etc.). Then I'll call s.g.c. or lynx (sometimes while I'm copying the info. from the card to save time) and give them my shop info., cust. policy # etc. (If I'm very busy I'll sometimes ask the customer to call their ins. co. 1-800 # [usually located on the back of the ins. card]for me, hand them my biz card for my shop info. so they can initiate the claim while I work on their w.s.). After the s.g.c. or lynx representative is finished getting most of the info. from me they'll ask to speak w. customer to complete the claim. During this time if the chip is filling properly I'll start curing it or working on it some more to fill it, then the rep. will ask to speak to me again and I'll get the ref. # and the process is almost complete. Then it's just a matter of finishing-up the repair, getting any additional info. from customer (like the date of loss they gave the rep. etc.), washing their w.s. and getting their signature on the invoice.
