Don't give away free repairs to Car Dealers

Don't give away repairs to dealers to get their business. It is unprofessional and seems desperate. Remember these guys are usually really good salesmen and they see free as "not very good". Be confident that they need you to do their repairs. Even if you get the business from that free repair you offered, your relationship with them will always be " you need them to give you repairs to do" not the other way around.

I beg to differ, but not completely. First off if you offer a superior quality of repairs compaired to the others in you region, then a demo may be in order. Dealers are bombarded with poeple offering the next best thing, so if you realy offer the best, then show them, because just saying so will n ot make a difference. Another alternative is to challenge the dealer with a little bet, if you are satisfied with the repair you pay, if it ain't any better than the other guy, then I will leave you alone. I know that where I am this works, because the other techs are inferior in quality. Speaking of quality I just recieved my GM kit, wow they should maybey give more effort in selling there product, it works great,it's fast, easy, and produces super repairs.

Bruno,
Every repair I do comes with the "If you don't like it you don't pay" guarantee.
I've been taken up on it once. If you are the best you won't have to give away repairs to get business.
Screenman,
Over ten years I have done many wet repairs. I am a million times better at it than when I started. I still don't like to do it and avoid it if possible.
Just so you guys know I started this thread so as not to hijack the other thread this was being discussed on since I don't think it relates to the original post.

Despite my sales training, I have found the Free repair saves me time, and time is money. Dealers get flooded with sales people trying to get them to use there services, I found thet offering the free repair is the fastest way to get my foot in the door, then my repair speaks for itself.
