Nothing personally against tent guys or anybody else but I was in shock the other day when I stopped in at a Costco store and seen 4 guys working a w/s repair tent parking lot set up.

It just heavily rained 10 minutes prior and here I see these guys doing repairs and never once drying out the damage on any of the vehicles they were working on. I parked next to them for 45 minutes and not once did I see a drystar, heat pen, butane torch or hair dryer being used.

I'm sure they serviced well over 50 vehicles that day and made their money but out of those 50 repairs how many do think will fail? I'd say all 50.

You want to be the best in this biz??? Please take the extra time to dry things out!

People like that don't want to be the best in the biz. They only want to make money and it doesn't matter if they are doing the right thing or not. My guess is they would also charge someone for a surface chip if they can get away with it.

Yuo didn't by chance notice who's equipment they were useing did you?Some manufactureres push drying out the repairs more than others and maybe they were a bunch of newbies or........

And we wonder why insurance companies aren't waiving the deductables!?...

If you wipe the area down and use vac as the first cycle in most cases you wont need to dry with heat or chemicals sure sometimes the water needs a push but personaly I seldom have to heat things up

Thats what I tell all the other techs in my area do not dry out, there is no need. Yeh!!! LOL

Would you want your roof put on your house when it's raining? I tell customers I want it to be dry 4-5 hours before me doing the repair. I don't use chemicals or heat. It's like this .... if you leave one droplet or trace of water in that chip, this winter, when it freezes that droplet will expand and crack the glass. Quit being greedy and in a hurry. QUALITY !! I've never lost a job because I waited a few hours. Some jobs you just can't do until it dries, like cutting grass, painting etc ... accept it! you have a job that doesn't need to be done when it's wet outside.

I guess it depends on where you live and what type of conditions you work in. Myself I dont work in the rain I dont work when its too cold or when everything is still damp because it rained a few hours before. Granted some areas these rules would mean I only work a couple days a month but thats not the case here it does get cold here but solid water doesnt work its way into glass so like I said before I seldom need to dry things out well warmed glass with a strong vac cycle does it for me 90% of the time.

when its over 90 degrees in cloudless sky and it rained say an hour ago that window is hot!!!!water goes out very quickly
