Does Anyone Here Have A Toll Free Number They Advertise? If So, How Is It Working? It Would Seem To Be A Service To Make It Easier For A Customer To Call. Any Comments Would Be Appreciated!!

After leaving hundreds of business cards with a local Number to no avail and many cards more knowing cell phones don't pay long distance-I don't see a return on the investment.

I have a 800 number that is very helpful to me. The first day I put it on my truck and went out I received 7 calls. I have mine set up so the messages go straight to my email so I don't have additional time over 1 minute per call(wasted talk by the customer). When I retreive them there is no additional charge.
Here's how it works - I set the number to instruct the caller to leave a name and a call back number and their call will be returned by an appointment specialist. They are only allowed 40 seconds to leave the information( so each call lasts less than only 1 minute no matter what. Then each evening when I get home I check my email for any messages. I return the calls first thing the next morning to schedule an appointment. One repair pays for my monthly bill. I think that that is very much worth it, at least to me it is. It is much more professional and consumers tend to trust companies that have 800 numbers more than just local. I can go anywhere and do business knowing that if I'm seen a potential customer will not hesitate calling without being charged a toll fee. If you're in an area that has multiple area codes, I highly recommend you get one.

Our phone company charges only $5.00 more to have a toll free # go to your regular number. I was lucky enough to get the last numbers to be
1-800-XXX-DING. It is not the free call that generates the business it is the number recall.
It is easy to remember, I put both on my business cards and truck. When we run radio ads, we use the word DING, when giving the number with the sound of a bell also goes off in the background. I thought 800-XXX-CRAK, with a CRACK noise would be a great idea, but was not available, make a list and call the phone company, worth the $5.00/mth.
It gives people the option. People who call it seeing it on my vechicle remembered the number because of the word DING. I think a local number with the last 4 digits to say something would be just as helpful. ie. CHIP
222-CHIP, ROCK, CRAK, FIXR etc...
