damage question

Hello,,
I have a repair to do Saturday and it is described as just a tiny nick in the glass with 2 quarter inch cracks of the ends. These give me problems and I know they should be simple. Should just drill and pop first off or try and fill with no drill, or just drill and try and fill LOL. I still have troubles poping bullseyes I got the 18 gauge needle and tap with a spoon but seems I usually get some small cracks or more cracks. Am I tapping too hard?
thanks
Jeff

if you are getting more damage you are probably tapping to hard...as far as the repair sat i would just drill down and then fill

Thanks I figured I may just be tapping to hard

Drilling first sounds good to me I would probably be wasting my time to just try and fill.

I always put the injector on it and cycle a few times before I even think about drilling as far as poping I never do unless its the end of a crack and since I wont do cracks over 4 inches seldom do I pop. It doesnt make sence to do more damage to do a repair when most times a little time under pressure will do the same job

Thanks everyone,, I guess I will just see exactly what it looks like. Sometimes they describe them over the phone different than they really look when I get there.

Drill ,pop thats my way but it is not for everyone. I would question using a spoon as the shape of the end will make it impossible for you to control the needle when you strike it. It will always move damaging the drill hole. I use a small toffee hammer. As I have stated many times if you cannot drill and pop you need more practise at it. In training my techs will drill and pop 20 straight off by end of the first day.

Screenman the spoon is hard to control,, I wasn't sure what a toffee hammer was so I had to do a search on the net LOL lots that would be nice but now I just need to find one. I have been practicing but still seems to be an issue with more cracking if there is already some tiny cracks. So should I just tap lightly until I get what I am looking for? thanks
