Insurance/retail business

I have been doing repairs full time now for over a year. I have built a pretty good income from fleets and car lots. I do very little insurance/retail business. How do I get more if it? I have advertised, that didn't work well. Word of mouth has goten me most retail business, but I want more. I am signed up with ACT for billing. Never got a referral from them. I see posts here about Edirect and getting electronic referrals. Has that been successful for some of you? Just need some ideas. I am not into tents. I am more agressive I guess. I like to knock on doors. Should I call on insurance agents? Just need advise as to how to go about it. After 20 years in sales I know working smart is as important as working hard. One doesn't work without the other. Thanks for your ideas and input ahead of time.

Act doesnt send referals they have you signed up with the networks and if you are in the area you will get refferals from them ACT is just a billing company you are the listed vendor. PS one who counts on referrals is one who will be holding his breath for a long while

I am not holding my breath for referrals. I just want to know how to get more insurance business. I will knock on dorrs. Just want to know the best way to go about it. Referrals happen after you have done the job. They won't create much mork for you.

Go to a sizable real estate office walk the lot take note of which cars have chips walk in and ask the receptionist who owns car A when that person comes forward give em your free sales pitch the story is you are working dow the street and had a little time to kill and rather than reading the paper one more time thought you would make some extra cash. I can fix that right now for free if you have full coverage ins they get thier card you call ACT and hand the phone to the customer go fix it before you go out to the repair hand the list of other cars to the receptionist and ask her if she could tell the people you are here.
I use this all the time its not unusual to get 5-10 insurance job in a real estate office with 30 cars in the lot these guys are the easiest sale in the world and way to busy to go somewhere to get the repair done every few months stop back and do a bunch more Beauty shops are a easy sell as well

Thanks. They say your easiest sale is another salesman. Beauty palors, no explanation there! LOL! Other than they aren't in a hurry to go anywhere. Thank you.
