My website is creeping along

So I'm finally getting some shape to my website. There is still a good bit that I want to do with it.

The pictures section will continue to grow and I'd like to make special mention of that. There is nowhere else that I know of that is documenting the many different ways a glass can break. As of this posting, I don't have many pictures myself posted. I had a lot on my camera but that was left recently in Germany.

Until then, please have a look and let me know what you think.

Thanks

Good eye sir. The wheat still needs to be seperated from the chaff, which is why it was brought here.

To answer your question, no I haven't seen that book. But, there will be a trip to B&N today to have a looksie.

Mike, your site looks fantastic - especially for just getting it going. Keep adding pictures. I need to do that to my site as well.

Thanks Sneck for the compliments. You have a great website as well.

And as for creeping along, I was wrong and pleasantly suprised so far. In the last 17 hours, which is also the time I advertised on Google, the site has been hit over 500 times. No direct links from Google today. But the only time the site has ever been hit in the few months I've had it up is from me screwing around with it. I suppose Google actually works and they might be on to something over there. Who knew?

"Hits" are cool, but just remember we aren't selling stuff on Ebay. It would be cool to see a global picture and have a little red dots to see where all the hits are coming from. More or less, we can only service local people.

Although I like some of the honesty you provide on your website, I really think it comes across as too personalized, when it should read more businesslike!

You shouldn't have to explain to everybody what you've done in your life prior to repair, mainly because it has nothing to do with repair! Also, if you have less than one years experience in this field you surely don't want to point out that fact on your website.

People wanting windshield repair really only care about one thing! That one thing is superior customer service and quality of repair. That's it! This is the only message you need to deliver on your website!

I just thinks it's cool that someone is seeing something of mine on the internet. I would like to have a Frapper type of map put on the site. I've recently seen that somewhere else but I don't know how to do it.

Thanks StarQuest for your insight. You're are correct that there needs to be some focus on the quality of the repairs that I can do. That's part of the reason behind having a pictures section. Let the quality of work you do speak more than written text.
But you have given me an idea. I all too often come across crappy repairs done before me. Some have been able to be fixed while others have not. A section dedicated to not so great repairs seems appropriate.

As for being somewhat personal, that will stay. I like the feeling of knowing something about someone I do business with. It gives the two parties something to talk about.

And on the subject of having less than a year experience, you're right, I should elaborate more on that. I've only been in business for myself for less than a year but I got started in windshield repair in about 1999/2000. I got out of it about 1 1/2 years into it because the guy I worked for was a very high pressure salesman and he wanted me to be the same. I'm not that way. We had it out one day and I walked out on him. A few months later he was out of business. Hmmm, I wonder why? And that's one of the reasons for having things personalized to a point. I'm not high pressure and strictly business with the customers.

Please keep the constructive criticism coming and thank you to everyone that helps.
