I've been talking to a few of the local insurance companies about how many repair claims they get a month and so forth. They all use Safelite and said that they have to send all thier claims through them but would recommend me.Are they not allowed to send them directly to me?

Many insurance companies have cut a deal with the big giant getting price and service guarenteed and no they cant send them to you here its against the law for an agent to refer you to someone and most states have a similar rule they refer you to thier glass claims office who refers you to someone thus bypassing the local state laws dont bother complaining or waste valuable brain cells getting upset its like death and taxes stuff happens go out find your own work and dont count on someone else sending you work sell sell sell

How does it work with the customers that I go out and get on my own if they are insured by some of these insurance companies that use safelite?

I do the repair, hand them the reciept, and say "what insurance co. do you have?" I then tell them that most insurance will waive the deductible if they want to mail the receipt in and get their $ back. I'd say 80% of them will say it's not worth the hastle. This way I get my $ now and they can get theirs if they want it.
If you advertise the "waive the deductible" thing, the people will call the ins. co. first and get referred to someone else. (maybe).

Boyd is right. When I advertise "ask about free repairs," I end up getting calls from lynx as the customer's "middle man."
