Just have some questions that have been on my mind recently.

1. Can a crack be repaired without the need for drilling and popping a bulleye? If not, why it that so?

2. Are 2 separate charges charged to the customer if there is a star damage at the end of the crack? One charge for repairing the crack and the other for the star.

3. Are pit fillers supposed to harden once cured or do they remain pliable?

4. Has anyone ordered anything from Esprit before? I put in an order for some plastic injectors 2 weeks ago and have not received even an acknowledgement email from them! I didnt order from Delta as I was looking specifically for plastic injectors.

There are many other places to buy plastic injectors. Did you ask them for a delivery date. If you do get them I suggest before you start using them that you put a very small amount of resin on the thread. As otherwise it is very tight, the resin acts as a lubricant on the poor quality thread.

Several years ago I was very happy with Esprit, orders were received very fast. In the past year I tried to order a few items and had the same problem you're having. I always got the story that they "just sold the last one" and I had to wait for more to come in, but I never got my order. I ended up canceling and haven't tried to order since. I wish there was more than one distributor in the US, I really like some of their stuff. Although I'm now using Delta (love the new injectors), Esprit's plastic injectors were different, they had brass on the inside which made them more durable and they worked good.

1. I don't repair a lot of cracks (Coitster's comments lately are getting me interested in doing so) so I'll leave that one to other's with more experience.

2. I would just charge one fee to repair the windshield.

3. I have ordered from Esprit for a few years. I seem to remember a problem last time I ordered(6 months ago). Call them. They have always been very helpful when I have talked to them. I have never had any problem with the threads on their injectors.

you may not find the threads a problem but just try the resin idea and see the improvement. There is a major design flaw in the injector which you would see with close inspection.

1. I never "pop" bullseyes. I drill a very tiny hole at the end of the crack with a Henry Schein size 1 FG dental bur. The hole is so small that it's hardly noticeable.

2. If the crack and star break are connected, then it's one charge.

3. The pit filler that I use cures to a solid state - but it's not hard like the glass.

4. Never heard of Esprit!

In order to repair a running crack first push from the inside of the w/s to make sure you have the end of the crack...not hard pressure. Then take your drill and drill bout an 1/8 in past the end of the crack and make a mini bullseye. then push on the inside of w/s and run the crack into the mini bullseye. i always drill a second mini bullseye right next to the other bullseye just as a backup....then start from the mini bullseye and work from that end to the other....tip....use two drops of star resin and then crack resin on top of that depending on the length of the crack 6 to 8 drops of crack resin for 6 to 8 in. cracks.....u need a good star resin i use liquid resins for stars and crack resin by glass mechanix.....good luck

Are you saying that you put star resin into the injector and then crack resin on top of it? Don't the two mix together resulting in a thinner crack resin?

no because the star resin is harder therefore it goes into the mini bullseye and the crack resin fills in the rest of the long crack.
