To each there own but I think that this type of business and most add on services are best served up mobile. Sure some people have been extremely sucessfull with a shop but after all this is the type of business you have to go get, especially fleet accounts. Retail clients love the mobile aspect as well. Most peoples lives are so busy they would rather just put fixing it off till a later date. I am certainly not saying you could not make it work from a shop though. Good luck to you.

I am not in this business yet but I am looking at it . The one reason that I am considering it is because you do not have to sit and wait for the customer to come to you and I have experienced that twice as my wife and I owned a retail mattress store for five years and twice different
techs came in and I had them do repair work for me

Gotta go get it. If you think everyone is going to be running to you for your services when you start, you are probably going to get a rude awakening and have some lonely days. Even if you do some sort of mass marketing blitz.
In our market area, we have seen the tent guys come and go, usually within a week or 2. Our company has a "stronghold" on the area with a faithful customer base. You should check and see who you are up against, see what they are doing and market yourself accordingly. We have fixed shops but we still have techs out on the road 5 days a week working the accounts fending off our competition.

Hi...! Our markets are so much different from yours so I don't know if this reply has any relevence as far as marketing goes in the US, but here everybody loves the convenience of sitting at home or their place of employment while the job is being done rather than taking time out to go to a workshop (if) of course it is possible for all your services to be done mobile.

Pitt, its the only way to go. Mobile works best for me here. SGT is right on the money. I set some standards for myself. Uniform with company logo, clean appearance groomed (professional looking) vehicle with logos and clean.it is your sign on wheels. Manners need to be at your best. I often find other work at the same location. People see the vehicle and take advantage that your there. When you go to a customers work location you can find others needing repair as well. Remember apperance is everything.
