Does getting water in a chip make it crack out faster?
If so: How ?

Water in a chip causes the PVB interlayer to turn milky white over a period of time or in freezing conditions the ice that forms within the chip expands and increases the risk of cracks developing further. It is therefore important to remove any traces of water from the damaged area before attempting to repair it.
