Right, it takes a little practice if you are drilling into smooth glass, such as at the end of a crack. It happens to me very rarely now, but when it does, I call it 'signing my work' By the way, the JV-185 is a round round (ball) bur, and they do last a long time.

I apprecaite some advice on drill bits- I have seen a few posts in different places saying Janvil's 185 is the best. Thank You for the advice, Karen
