Howdy!

I'm just starting out in WSR and have already seen a lot of good info on this forum. But I have a question.

There's a company that makes a round, clear disc about 4 or so inches across that slides over the injector just below the injector holding arm that supposedly blocks out UV rays from the repair so you dont have to use the "bulky" UV shields and bubbles and such.

Seems like a good idea, but I wanted to ask some more experienced folks if it might work well before I order any. I'm pretty sure you could make it work with just about any injector, but I'm not sure if it actually works as advertised. If it does work, it might be a good item for Delta to offer.

Any thoughts?

Any tips for a greenhorn new to the business in a shaky economic climate? I know it's a bad time to start a business such as this, but I gotta do something to get some money coming in.

Light reflects and travels through stuff The UV shields give a wide coverage for a reason the little patch thing may slow things down but not well and once things start to cure its too late in many cases that yellow shield with its suction cups is easier to use than opening a can of soda

I just wrap a red shop towel around the base of the injector.

If you needed to probe any crack legs, to ensure proper filling, it would get in the way.
DK used to sell one, but I dont think they sell it anymore.

We still sell them, but they are not all that popular, for exactly the reason that Mr. Bill Stated. Although I rarely find it necessary to probe, it can be cumbersome to remove and replace the disc, and when you do you are leaving the break exposed to the UV rays until the disc is replaced.

I prefer a flexible UV shield with suction cups for most repairs. I used to use towels in the past, which also help to shade and cool the windshield, but have had issues with them blowing off during the repair. Bungee cords help remedy that problem, but I just find the UV shields to be faster and easier to use.

The flexible UV shields that Delta Kits sells are compact and fit in the bottom of most tool boxes when rolled up, but there are many sizes, colors, and shapes available from other windshield repair equipment suppliers.

We have some customers that love the discs, and others that love the bubble domes which I like for rainy weather, so it's more a matter of preference than anything else as long as the break is well protected throughout the windshield repair process.

I personally like the bubble dome as it often attracts potential customers with its odd shape. Plus it doubles as a cool space helmet. Good Luck.
