Windshield Repair Forum

Hi everyone. :eusa_danc My name is Jeff. I've been lurking for a while. I've been considering windshield repair for quite a while, as well as joining the forum. I've decided it's time for both.

I'm still researching which kit to go with (everybody seems to like delta around here...hmm). And I am making arrangements to attend the Delta training ASAP.

Please feel free to chime in with your opinions on Kits and Training.

I'm considering going into this business with my wife working along with me. I think this would work well for us. She's very organized and good with people. I'm also good with people, but better with skilled manual work.

Is anyone else operating this way? What is your experience?

Although I have a lot to learn, I am confident in my customer service skills as well as my ability to pick this up. I see windshield repair at first as an opportunity for extra money and experience operating my own company. But in the long run, I see it as a chance to be self employed and financially independent.

Please bestow all the advice you'd care to bestow. I need it.

I am located in Garden Grove, CA. If anyone who is nearby and established in this business could use an apprentice during weekends or evenings, I would leap at the opportunity for some hands on experience.

Welcome to the forum Jeff "newguy".

Well, some differences but similiarities too; my wife works with me in the business. She doesn't do much of the physical work, but instead more of the website, planning, advertisement, strategies, and of course the all-important bookkeeping. Only a little less than half our business is W/R. We also do stuff like automotive interior repair & dye, paint the occasional bumper and trim, put on a pinstripe or graphic, and as of late been getting into some retail home furniture repair & dye stuff. Diversity has worked for me, though I think I like windshield repair the best. That wasn't the case until I got more of an education from this forum and my skills improved.

Going into this from southern Ca. (btw say hi to my daughter over in Fountain Valley) do you guys have another income(s) coming in while you build up the biz? Cuz it can take awhile in a competitive market like yours is.

Thank you, jayjacque for welcoming me. What a small world it is, with your daughter in Fountain Valley. Garden Grove is next door to FV.

And yes we both have full time jobs. This would likely be a weekend and evening business for some time.
