there are plenty of past posts in both the new and archived concerning your question, bbrown.

Scroll for "fleets" and I think you'll find much of what you're looking for.

You may want to post some specific questions after that point.

Good luck.

Thanks for your input. I did read the post's in the archives. I guess what I'm asking is, besides talking directly to the fleet's, is anyone going out on the street to Owner Operators. If so what methods of marketing are you guys and gals using? I would just like to hear some peoples experiences.

The problem with owner-operators is that they're spread out all over the place and usually park their rigs at home. You can't offer a "fleet" price when you need to chase all over the place.

Set up at a major truck stop if you are looking for that type of business. You'll probably need to make some monetary arrangement with the truck-stop owner.

You can charge a fleet price to Independents at Truckstops that are leased on to larger companies such as Swift, Werner or Schneider.

Hey Joe, how are you doing with the truckstop work, I'm finding the price of fuel is hurting my business, even the truck wash is real slow now too.

jroske,

In defending what Desertstars mentioned, you really don't want to offer a fleet price to a independant trucker when he calls you to fix one vehicle mobile. He can pay like everybody else for this service if he wants to save his shield. $50/10/10 or more. If it's over 10 miles I'll ask for 60/10/10 upfront.

I charge $35 with most truck fleet accounts but expect to have 2-5 repairs every visit to make it worth my time and travel. The only time I'll ever give a independent a fleet discount if he's willing to work within my schedule "not his" and meet me at one of my serviced accounts. Makes good business sense....don't ya think

I,m working truck stops and down here 25/10/10 is all they are willing to spend, ok with me when you can average 7-10 repairs for half a days work. With the fuel prices the way they are I have been forced to look elsewhere for work. Just starting to explore the rv parks and like what I see so far.

Cpr,
I haven't started yet. Trying to scape up the funds fora kit. In the mean time I am learning from you guys on the forum.

Star Quest,
As CPR has stated he is already seeing a problem with business due to rising fuel cost. If you are charging $50-60 you will probably have a tough time at truckstops. I suggest giving the truckers a break and making it up on the RV's. As a trucker myself I do not know how a lot of the independents are still making it...Rising fuel costs, Cost of insurance tripling within the last year and a half and the change of Hours of Service which is mandated by the Department of Transportation which we have to run under. I do agree you are out there to make a living but if your price is too high the independent will pass you by to stay afloat because he too is out there to make a living. Truckers do not make what some people think they do. That is al I am going to say on this.....
