I am going to make the "leap" into WSR and was curious as to how the economy (recession) has effected your business and is it better or worse according to different regions of the country. When I get into WSR I will propbably want to go full time as soon as possible in order to devote the time needed to build the business.

Here in Europe we have only lost a few accounts so far, that is not too bad considering the situation. Others may want to slow down a bit on their expenses.
The ones we have lost filed for chapter 11. The ones that slow down are not insured. In the US we have some customers slowing down as well but not too bad. Remember; we are a repairs only business and it is always (at all times) more cost effective to repair -any customer or prospect understands that.
My advice is to keep your job for a while, it brings in money to support your family in this tough time, and be part time repairer. Get a proper training!

I think that repair will be in demand because it saves time and money for the individual. Even though I think that business is off a little it isn't really bad as a lot of people have in other businesses. Places with military bases will be OK because of the influx of money from the state. Same with military suppliers. Places like Detroit are in really bad shape, $18000 average home price I saw the other day.

I, also think you should probably hang onto your job and go part time until you get enough business to justify quitting. I think things are going to get a lot worse economically so you need to protect yourself and your family by not jumping into something too quick. Of course this all depends on you and your outlook and how much "get up and go" you really have. I've done an awful lot of things that most people thought were crazy, but it was what I really wanted to do, and it has worked out for me.
