Windshield Repair Forum

Hey guys,
As all of you know we have had a lot of discussion about the NWRA and their effectiveness. We have also posted the possiblity about forming a new orginazation. I must say I have mixed feelings about what I am going to propose. Now I am personaly not a member of the NWRA, I have considered joining but havn't because of many reasons. I have 2 questions, for you all.

1st Question Should we form another orginazation and would anybody be opposed to Paintless Dent Repair being a part of that orginazation. Their is no National Paintless Dent Repair orginazation as I know it, mix that with Windshield Repair you could have a National Windshield and Dent Association?

2nd Question If I where to join the NWRA, would anyone vote to put me, or one of the other members on this forum to the board of the NWRA? Not saying I am convinced to run yet, lets just say like any political person I am testing the waters as they say?

3rd Jeff with Delta Kits don't have a heart attack that I have mentioned possibly running for the board, I know I said I wouldn't do it, but I have thought about this and am just checking to see the opinion on it.

I've met David, he's been more help than you might believe in my start-up.
Yeah, I can see a new organization supporting WR & PDR being formed.

Evidentally you haven't had the chance yet to read a couple of my very recent posts concerning the nwra.

I'll post my thoughts to your question in the next day or so.

The idea deserves more than just a quick response on my part.

As far as dent repair is concerned, there is no conflict between that business and the repair business and I see no reason why even lens repair and plate glass repair couldn't be included in the mix. Many repair companies are involved in all four. (As well as etching vin #'s).

Maybe Delta's earlier post about fixing a broken wheel is the only way to go. The repair/replacement industry is so intertwined that it might be impossible to construct a repair- only organization.

It would actualy be benificial to add the above products. Windshield Repair, PDR, Vin Etching, Lens Repair and Plate Glass repair. You could actualy take it a step further and add window tinting if you want to. Mabee we are jumping ahead of ourselves. My question is, how many things would we want to add, and if we did. When is it to much, I mean would they take away from our primary focus of WSR?

In my opinion, it would be best to stick with WSR exclusively.

The problems we face aren't of much interest to those other trades and could result in a lack of focus.

I wonder if the NWRA has thought about setting up a committee or a wing devoted to a membership of repair-only techs?

Sounds divisive, doesn't it?

Not really if one takes into account the composition of legislatures.

The question of "steering" is of interest to both wings. (Note that the IGA is on the side of Diamond-T in the pending Safelite law suit.)

The question of certification and "bait and switch" tactics is of particular interest to the WSR industry.

Any advances made in regard to both of those problems would be beneficial to repair-only companies as well as repair/replacement companies who are truly interested in providing quality repairs.

Seems to me that would obviate the need to re-invent the wheel.
