After you have drilled to the proper depth, insert tip into hole, pull back all the way and let the weighted slide drop. Depending on the angle of the glass you may need to give it a little shove. That should give you the results you are after.

I may be wrong but I think SGT is talking about the slide hammer for making mini bullseyes at the end of long cracks, and Time2Shine asked about the star break maker which is a spring loaded center punch.

With the star break maker you just turn it to the lowest setting and press against the glass until it snaps. If it does not create a break you can turn up the pressure and repeat until you get the desired results.

If using the slide hammer then SGT's answer is correct.

Come on now SGT, if you start making mistakes, we will have to start removing some of your titles under your name. :o  :D :D

Wait! I was told that the gold tool with the pointed end which you do press against the glass and is spring loaded was the "BULLSEYE" maker. Well at least that's what it created for me.
Also thank you SGT for the info on how to use the slide hammer, that was going to be my nex0t question. LOL!

The tool I'm referring to is the "HOOK" end tool. Clear handle? I've. Tapped it against the practice glass lightly no star break? Tap it hard it completely creats a star break but with one problem the star shoots legs clear across to the endof the sheet?

Although there is a bullseye maker (hardened steel bearing with a rubber band through it) we generally use the hook tool to create bullseyes. Generally that works very well, although it does take a bit of practice and occasionally you get a stubborn windshield that breaks in unexpected ways. The gold spring loaded center punch is what we use to create star breaks. Again, we have pretty good success with this tool, but windshields can be unpredictable.
