seek opinion on windshield damage

Post by zmzmzm »

Does it appear that this windshield was struck once by a single object, making the hole? If not, how many impacts would you think have struck this windshield?

Thanks.

Was it .....in Afghanistan perchance or downtown Baghdad ...if so probably an RPG damage

could this be from a single object?

I'm not a professional, so please forgive me if I am asking an obvious question. An RPG would have blown up the entire car (I imagine). So I am guessing that the laughing man  means that you are inserting humor into your answer.

Is it possible that this damage was caused by a single object smashing a hole in the windshield and that the cracks we see are a result of this impact propogating outward from this one single object?

If you think that this windshield was struck more than once, or by multiple objects, about how many times would you guess it was struck?

Thanks

Now I would like to be polite and answer your question, the answer I would give is that is it was possibly caused by one very large impact. I have seen some like this that have been driven at speed into or under backs of lorries etc.

Out of interest I hope you will politely tell us why you are asking the question.

Hi Screenman:
First let me say that I am very gratified that you are a polite person and that you appreciate politeness in others.
Please take a look at this photo: http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x180 ... /ICA-4.jpg
It isn't the greatest photo, but it does have the virtue of simply being a photo, without being attached to a website that may have a bias.

The taxi is the same one that I posted a link to in the begining of this thread. It belongs to Lloyd England. (If you Google "Lloyd England taxi Pentagon" you will have plenty of info to choose from ).
The official story is that that 200 pound, 40 foot light pole speared Lloyd's windshield after it was torn off its base by the wing of a commercial airliner.

A 40 foot, 200 pound pole, hurtling through the air after being struck by a plane's wing moving at 525 mph is going to be a destructive object to anything unfortunate enough to get in its way. And yet there is not one scratch on the hood of the car.

This is a very curious thing. Since the incident was not filmed, there is nothing we can look at but the pole and the car to tell us what happened. And who better to ask than experts in windshields?

From looking at the photograph, the impact was a single object hitting the screen at an angle from the drivers side and from above. Without seeing the damage on the inside of the vehicle I cannot say how far the object penetrated the interior. if no one was hurt inside the vehicle, they have been very lucky.
