1987 mercedes 560sl convertable

i've never tackled one, book calls for over 6 hours labour, scarry! also, wasn't sure how to remove chrome moldings without damage. anyone help?
The drip rails at the sides have screws holding them on under the weatherstrip and one at the top.
The moldings are held in with friction clips. Use a door panel tool and pry them off. These were butyl fron the factory no telling whats in there now. HTH
