Hi I just received a delta kit and have a practice windshield. I need to start making things that can be repaired. I have tried a pellet gun, bounces off, BB Gun WOW what a crater andf mess!!, I have tried drilling a small hole then center taping it, just created LONG star cracks, Tried a heavy nut with an elastic through the center, and fireing like a slingshot, just bounces off. Please if anyone has a sugestion for making different kinds of REPAIRABLE damage, let me know. Im like a kid with a new toy, but can't figure out how to put the batteries in!
Thanks
How do I make a bulls eye, chip etc

Jonnyques,
You can get a spring loaded center punch, which will usually create good star breaks. You can get a hook tool (cotter key puller), that will create bullseyes, as long as you hit it hard. We sell either of these, but you can also find them in hardware stores as well. Be careful with the spring loaded center punches, and get as sharp of a point as you can find. Some brands have blunter tips than others, which will remove a lot of glass from the center.
If you need more help with this, give me a call!

16 years ago, I started with an apparatus that resembled a miniature sling shot. It was very effective because it created every concievable type of damage depending on angle (limited by the spread between those fingers) and it didn't require standing back and ducking from the rebound.
Fore-finger and index-finger were braced directly on the practice w/s, slingshot was drawn back and released. Projectile, a ball bearing, was three quarter encased in a holding sack and the thrust was provided by a thick rubber band.
Anyone know if that still exists? I'd like to acquire a couple of them.
If not, I could do a bit of research and possibly find out where I originally obtained that tool. It worked great.
Follow up 5 min W/R

Center punch works great... Try your local hardware store.

Try Liquid Resins for the sling shot. (when you go to their website, click on "products" then "windshield repair kits". You will see it in most of the pictures. It is just to the left of the blue towel with the tip injectors in the first picture) As desertstars stated, it is a great tool for making bullseyes. We still use it for training purposes. Shipping will probably cost you more than the device.
The center punch works great as does the hook tool. The hook tool does require a pretty good "smack" to the glass. I would also 2nd the tip on making sure the center punch has a sharp tip!! Will make things much better!!! If deltakits sells them, it may be a good idea to just get it from them since you will be certain to get the right tool in the right condition.
Oh yes..... Finally a GOOD message board for W/S/R!!!!
MANY THANKS DELTA KITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glass Technology has the ball bearing with elastic. Great for practice. The ball bearing is 1/4 inch in diameter with a 3" elastic through a hole in the center of the ball bearing.

We also carry that tool. It is a rubber band with a laser cut ball bearing. Personally, I like the hook tool better, but if anyone's interested, it's part number 77-11S.

Jeff how much is that tool?? The ball bearing. I use a hook tool, however I am going to go out and buy myself a spring loaded punch. I am always looking for new stuff to make chips with to teach people. Thanks
