I attended an extensive repair course where I was taught to drill everything except bullseyes. I see on the forum where many of you seldom drill. It makes sense to me that if
damage has occured, there must be a path for resin to flow. I use a sun shield and a towel I secure with suction cups to keep uv out until I am ready to cure. I would like not to drill
but am concerned that if the resin does not flow properly, I will not be able to drill and pop to complete the job. Would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

Where was that training ?

Some take the easy way out if you drill things go quicker and you can move on to the next job the down side is the repair will not be as invisible as it would if you took your time and did it right speed versus quality its every techs choice

Well, I am easy and feel comfortable enough to admit here that I drill many times myself, not all the way to the PVB though, I also use the drill most times as a probe, to clean the impact point.

Did a job last week on a Ford - combination break about 1"" all told did not drill properly just used it to clear pit - went through pressure/ vacuum cycles for three sessions - had the uv shield and towel over repair but could still see a little glint ..was about to cure ..got a long phone call from a mate of mine 15 mins (approx).....while break under pressure...as a result job turned out invisible! ..and in zone A .....take your time ....and charge more for invisibility

tHANKS FOR THE COMMENTS. iGOT MY TRAINING IN COLORADO WITH tIM EVANS.iT WAS A GREAT COURSE. tHREE WEEKS OF HARD WORK. mY QUESTION WAS NOT REALLY ANSWERD.i AM CONCERNED THAT IF i DO NOT DRILL AND THE BREAK DOES NOT FILL PROPERLY, WHAT DO i DO? PANIC;;;;;; iF THE BREAK HAS NOT CURED i CAN SEE DRILLING, BUT i HAVE NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE. wOULD IT WORK?

Yes, as long as you have not cured the break you can still drill if you your attempt to fill without drilling has failed.
