New guy with Questions

Hi. First I'd like to thank everyone who operates and posts to this forum; it has been an amazingly useful and educational tool!
I have decided to start a WSR business of my own. I am not totally new to it as I was briefly employed once doing windshield repair. The employer had despicable business practices and provided almost no training, but this forum and the Delta Kits website helped me a lot in learning how to do a more proper, quality repair. After tons of over research over the last couple weeks I am pretty well sold on a Delta Kit. Anyway, my biggest remaining question for now is about billing the insurance.
I have gone extensively over the ACT website and their "full service" plan sounds great but I just can't see paying $12.95 per job for a service when all I need is to know how to do it myself to save that money. I have established the fact that I need to sign up with SGC and Lynx, and maybe some other networks (what about those other networks anyway? SGC and Lynx are by far the most talked about, do I need to sign up for any other?). Then what?!?! I searched the forum pretty extensively and haven't found all the details laid out exactly. Does one normally call the network or the actual ins co? Then what? What info do I give them and what info do they give me? Does the customer always have to be present and speak to someone? And what do I do with the info I get? It sounds like if it's a job with SGC I enter info on their website, otherwise I use a service like ACT's "EDI Plus" plan. Is that right? What about price? It seems ins companies have specific prices they pay for chip repair, how do I find out how much each company pays? I know someone will probably tell me my questions have been answered before, but I seem to find little bits of info here and other little bits there and sometimes they seem contradictory. What I would love is one detailed explanation of the whole insurance process from start to finish in one place. That may be a lot to ask for, and I am sure I will think of more questions, but any further help really is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, I look forward to being a member of this unique business community.
