Any advice gratefully received

Hi, perhaps this is a bit of a cheeky request as I am not in the Biz but I can not find anyone local who is even interested in trying to fix my screen (I'm in South West UK).

Reading various topics on this forum it seems to me this should be an easy fix to attempt:

Firstly, the screen is brand new and the car has not been out of the garage since the screen was fitted about 6 weeks ago (so everything is nice and clean and dry).

Secondly, this is a stress crack in the outer layer of the glass, it runs upwards about 4 inches from the bottom edge of the screen.

Thirdly, this is my own car - it's a 1972 Plymouth 'cuda I have been restoring over the past 4 years. I imported and fitted the screen myself and I guess I have introduced stress somehow but I don't know how as I was really careful, anyhow it's cracked - it's a bonded screen. The crack just suddenly appeared after the screen had been in there for six weeks without the car even being driven !?

Finally, The crack is on the pass. side and not too noticeable - I would be happy if I can just minimise it's appearance and prevent it spreading further.

So - is there anyone out there who is anywhere near me ? And if not, what can I do to try to cure or at least minimise this problem ? I really don't want to have to import another screen from the States if I can help it.

Thanking you in advance.

Steve

You want to talk to a repair only guy near you.

Hmm thanks for that I 'phoned and their local bloke is going to call me to discuss it.

Every other place I've called has instantly said it can't be done so this is a big improvement !
