1990 VW GTI, how long should it take to replace the windshield? can you drive in the rain after words?
It depends on the skill of the technician, if there is any rust to deal with, and what type of urethane and primers are used. Even when using fast cure urethane I like the vehicle to sit for a couple of hours minimum before releasing it to the customer, but many technicians will release the vehicle right away. Actually I prefer not to release vehicles to the customer until after 24 hours, but that is not realistic for most shops these days, therefore I think 1-4 hours is likely depending on the conditions mentioned above.
If properly installed you should be able to drive in the rain as soon as the vehicle is released to you, but you may want to avoid high pressure car washes for 24 hours or so.
