harder then normal lights list

Post by Ricersux »

Maybe this will be a sticky?

Post what cars you have come across that require more work than the average repair. Also post what about the light made it more difficult. Remember to charge accordingly and check back often as new models will be added as they are discovered.

I will start.

996 Porsche 911: These have a chrome "button" on the lense that makes it difficult to mask and sand well around this piece. Other then that they were pretty straight forward.

Lamborghini Gallardo: These lights have an extremely hard coating to remove. I used 10 320grit and 600grit discs on one light!

I'll make it a sticky for awhile to see if the topic remains active.

I once had a Honda Accord which the headlight's were a pain only because the wind decided to show up and it threw my masking up and it stuck to the light before the lense could dry. Needles to say I ahd to strip all of that "New" clear off and re apply. This process took forever. After another 1 or 2 hours I had the lenses back to where they could be re cleared. That's been the hardest for me. But it was more of my fault.

The second hardest I have endured would be a 2007 Nissan Quest Van. OMG! They have some extremely hard coat. And they have several different edges and curves.

Other than that the rest is cake!

Chevrolet Malibu's and Impala's really have hard OEM UV coating remove. Honda, Toyota and Nissan are the easiest to remove, IMHO.

Yesterday, I restored the headlights on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and they were a little harder than normal. (note: I only used one extra 320 grit sanding disc). Below are some images and the video is coming soon!
