Hey everyone, just thought I would share with y'all a little experience I had yesterday while repairing a Windshield.

I was in the process of repairing about a 12" crack on the edge of a Toyota Tundra, just as normal I had a fender protector over the hood and my kit on top close to me. I was about 90% finished with the repair when a gust of wind hit under the back side of the fender cover and caused the kit to go smashing to the ground. So, I get off the step stool and start picking up everything and as I'm doing this, my 10 speed dremel (twice the size of the regular dremel) was still on the fender cover on the hood, so another gust of wind blows the cover and dremel to the ground, but before the dremel hits the ground, it landed bit first into the top of my foot!

It went through my shoe and not only did it stab me, it just so happen to pierce a large vein that caused blood to squirt from my foot all over my shoe, and sock!

Messed up my shoe, broke a bit, broke my light, and it just put me in a foul mood....

So, just be careful out there, even the repair business can be dangerous ....

WOW! That sounds gruesome.
Back in '98, I was up in the foothills outside of Denver when the same thing happened, minus the injuries. Only my box went upside down into a snow bank. So I had to dig around in the snow to find my tools.
Since then, If I can't get the car to a windbreak, I will set my box on the ground next to a tire.

Just put some pit resin, on the hole and cure....just dont scrape, with the blade....

I have never and will never put a toolbox on someone's car.

Neither would I, just asking for trouble in my opinion. However I do feel that a fender cover is a good idea to protect against spills etc.

I keep my tool box at least 10 feet from the customer's car at all times.

I keep my toolbox on the tailgate of my truck.
My resin stays in its place in my toolbox, so I cant spill it or knock it over.

How do you guys that work from your trucks manage in large fleet scenario's or when the vehicle is inside a workshop which is 100yds long. Tool box on the floor, the bending is good for you.

I would never put my tool box and equipment on a customers hood either! I always put a non skid mat and large towel on first, than my tool box and equipment.

My reasons why I would not place my toolbox on the bonnet, first there is absolutely no need to, second any mat you place under it will have grit and dirt between bonnet and the tool kit, if this moves just slightly it will scratch the paint. So no tool kit on bonnet, no belts with buckles, no zips on jackets, in fact as little chance as possible of damaging or being accused of damaging the customers vehicle. Come on guys the floor is not that far away, and short of a medical reason if you cannot reach it comfortably then you should be looking in the mirror and maybe changing your diet and exercise routine.
