With summer months coming I would warn the new folks that hot glass is much more brittle use care not to crack things out. Practice cooling the glass and shading the area. (Umbrella?) Warm weather brings a whole new group of things to work on often warm legs ar closed up and it takes more talent to fill them Suction cups are rubber or plastic warm glass makes em soft and the let go, Resin is thinner when warm ,Too much head pressure and things will pop the list goes on take care in the heat

I actually prefer doing repairs during the hot weather months and get excellent results. A little care in cooling down a hot windshield is important but other than that it's business as usual. Just use common sense and you will be fine.

I'm with you clearquest. Many more challenges in the winter as far as I am concerned.

I don't think GlassStarz started this post to get thoughts on which season is more difficult to do repairs. The transition from a cold to hot season does make you work a bit different and I think GlassStarz was just reminding the newbies of things to watch for .

Oh, I wasn't knocking GlassStarz at all or trying to create a seasonal debate. Both hot and cold weather create issues to deal with.

I prefer warm glass too Brent. I find it much easier to work with than cold glass.

I agree Frank...a good cold pilsner glass adds to the flavor.

My point was that things change with the weather and some of the habits you form working in the cold dont work on hot glass as far as the weather debate thats the reason im here instead of Vermont got tired of the cold. Newer techs who have been going along well might be surprised and crack one out working on the hot glass.
Things needed in the heat\
I like to keep a diluted alcohol water mix in a spray bottle the alcohol will gently cool the glass (spray surrounding area not the chip alcohol may not be good for the chip
I keep a big towel to put over everything keeps the hot sun off the glass you just cooled
Depending on which syatem you use you might invest in some extra seals the hot glass leads to them not lasting as long.
Thicker resins the warm thins resin
Sunblock (DUH im pretty red right now LOL)
Hot glass will remove fingerprints (Skin) a light pair of cotton gloves wont hurt
set tool box etc in the shaded are next to the car
