ADVICE NEEDED ON HEADLIGHT PROTRUSIONS

Hello everyone,
Today I restored the head lights on my 2002 Chevy Venture Van. It was my first restoration. I am very pleased with the results; however the time to complete the project was extended an extra 20 minutes due to plastic protrusions on the head lights. I had to hand sand them and their surrounding areas. The Metabo was a little too bulky to get up close to the protrusions.
Instead of hand sanding, does anyone have any advice on how to sand the protrusions and its surrounding area? I'm assuming that a smaller type sander might be available. Any positive input would be helpful.
Thank you!
