Network Pricing

I always get pricing updates via fax and they are almost always for a Safelite administered insurance comnpany. It usually is a notice of higher repair rates and it seems that they are trending flat rate as well. We all are aware of the Safelite issues but you either play the game or you do not. I do play and for one like that they are pushing for higher rates even if they are not sending much work my way.

I for one would like to see a higher flat rate pricing than a tier plan with the networks. I would say that 90% or more of they jobs we have are single shots so I would like to see more money up front and take a minor hit on the backend on the rare times it is a multiple.

So why is Lynx, Harmon and others not doing they same? If they are trying how come they are not successful at getting there rates up? Maybe they are and are just not sharing they money!

What say you?

Zup Bryan?
Friday I did a 3 chip job thru AutoOwners and faxed it in for EDI at 50-10-10. When they sent me an email confirmation it was for 60-10-10 Naturally, I called ACT and asked if that was correct and was told that AutoOwners (Lynx) rate was correct at 60-10-10.
So there's one Lynx company that's raised their rates. Allstate is still at 50-10-10 however.
Hope all is well in the hills of PA.

Auto-Owners has been paying me 70/10/10 for at least 3 years. There may still be some difference in area pricing. Go to your Lynx\Metryx site and see if you can negotiate your price, but it may affect how many referrals you get if you raise your price. With Lynx and some networks your price is set by the insurance company, other networks set their price with the ins. co. and then negotiate a price with you. Alliance network was only paying me $50 for a single, until I found out they were collecting $80 from the Ins. co. Almost all prices are negotiable, if you know how to ask, but like I said before, it may affect how many referrals you get .

Brian...Safelite is an in house network...so obviosly they will get the higher prices..all we get is the leftovers (out of their coverage area)...lynx and harmon let glass shops set prices and naturally people lower their price to get work..and their seems to be an abundance of shops willing to go along...I do insuance work..but certainly don't depend on it....their are many issues that will never be resolved...but yes it would be nice Brian if things could change
