"illigal" area for windshield repair?

I am new to this forum so let me start by saying hello!

I have found some windshield repair companies websites claiming that it is illegal to perform a repair anywhere within the drivers point of view. I generally would consult the customer with details of final appearance, ect and possibly suggest replacement. If they insist on the repair understanding it could still cause viability problems, then i repair. But is this ILLEGAL?

Any insight on this subject is appreciated,

It is not illegal if you have advised them and they gave you constent... But have it in writing.

"Legal" can have several meanings... the government does not have a criminal statute about these repairs. The government's civil court's would want what "just chippin away" said. The people trying to form associations that make Industry Best Practices rules and schmules say that repairs should not be done in certain areas. When these associations are successful at getting the government on board... then perhaps it would become illegal in the true sense of the word.
