Wanting to get some feedback on how long of a crack people will attempt to repair b/f recommending to a customer to get the windshield replaced. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

In a car windshield 6 inches is my limit and this only on a crack I know is going to come out super good. In a truck or bus I do plenty of 12 inch plus, this depends on where it is and how clean it is. Hope this helps.

It all depends on the location of the damage in the windshield. I did one this morning on the drivers side towards the bottom heading towards the passenger side about 8". Personally, I don't usually repair anything over 12" unless it's on a larger windshield (ie, RV, Bus, Commercial Vehicle).

I use my Professional judgment when I examine the damage and decide from there whether to repair or refer for replacement.

Now, I have gone and repaired cracks that are just a few inches, because other Replacement/Repair shops won't repair anything over the size of a quarter.

To each their own!

Most Ins. co's still say 6 in. but I think Rolags now says 12 in. ? is that right? Personally I don't think a 20 in. crack is any more difficult than a 2in. crack. I think it's more what you are comfortable with - you are the one giving the warranty. You didn't say where you are located, but that also can be a factor in your decision. I am looking at 3 or so more months of snow on the ground and that means sloppy roads with salt and sand and apple/beet juice that makes a very ugly mess on the glass. I find way too many cracks unrepairable in the winter because of this mess. If you have any seasonal variables, that can affect how long of a crack you will want to try.
