The lead story on Glassbytes today

I hope the new president at least has more integrity. There hasn't been a newsletter since last June. They're really working hard over there.

NWRA will send you a renewal bill quicker than given you any updates. That's why I'm no longer supporting them. NWRA has no presence or control in this industry. They are a fallen organization. Sad but true!

In order to protect the guilty I won't name names, but back in 1995 a member of the founding board of directors of the NWRA had recently been convicted of income tax evasion and did about a year in the gray bar hotel. His wife was confined to house arrest for about six or so months and they were ordered to make restitution amounting to several millions. They were found out because a former employee applied for unemployment insurance only to be informed that his former employer hadn't made any contributuions to his account. Turns out this NWRA board member/felon hadn't made any contributions to any of his employees' accounts - or forwarded any of the withheld taxes of his employees (a Social Security issue) to the IRS.

I was astonished that a nascent organization that purported to champion the interests of the independent businessperson/technician would through either neglect or ignorance appoint to the first board of directors someone who so obviously did not consider the interests of his employees.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: The NWRA was founded by the tool vendors to lobby the insurance industry to make sure that they would continue to pay for repairs. Any benefit that accrued to the technician was coincidental to the well being of the tool vendors. That's what it is and that's why it is.

Cheers;

Puka Pau

Just out of interest if that is the case about the tool vendors, why did not a bunch of you techs start your own association? Was it that the tool vendors had the get up and go whilst the techs did not?

Hmmm, this is not the right time to be discussing this, nobody has the details. It simply is between Boyle and his former employer.

This topic has gotten completely off track. If you have issues with the NWRA I suggest you take it up with them, or if you wish to discuss it on this forum start a new topic that is relevant to your posts. The fact that Mr. Boyle was indicted has nothing to do with the NWRA. He is not the current president or on the board of directors for the NWRA, so it's not fair to tie the current leadership of the NWRA to Mr. Boyle.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Sorry I might have been the one guilty of taking it off topic, not intentional I can assure you.

Here are links to the two articles regarding this issue. I'm sure there will be more to come and many within our industry will be interested to see how things play out.
