SGC question...

so when I do a job, call in the claim. They give me a referral #. Do I have to submit it online also? Whats the next step?

You can submit by mail or fax and receive check by mail but there will be additional fees. Could be as high as $11. If you register for online billing and except EFT payment there are no additional charges.

I believe that it is always best to get your referral # first before you do the repair. Sometimes they do not qualify, or it takes some time before they get the approval.

I just did a repair two weeks ago where the customer called his insurance company and discussed his coverage. AAA said that he was in fact covered for repairs and transferred him to SGC. I talked with the service rep, gave her my shop # and agreed on a price for the repair. Within minutes, I received an E-mail from Safelite with a Referral number. A few days after making the repair I went online to do my invoicing only to have Safelite tell me that the customer didn't have coverage. I thought that's pretty crappy of SGC (SCUMBAG GLASS COMPANY) to make an agreement on a price with me, send me a referral number for the repair and them refuse to pay. SGC's referral numbers seem to be written on single ply paper, so the chance of getting your fingers soiled are very high with THEM. I need to figure out how to protect myself before it happens again. Needless to say, I'm pretty leery about doing any business SGC.

This only happened to me once and I ended up collecting my fee. Call SGC back and ask for a senior CSR representative. If they still won't budge tell them you are going to bill the customer directly for none payment. Don't let them slide on this!
