So, Out doing some foot work, Found a "New" customer. Proceeded with the claims center which is GMAC which has now moved all of there claim handling over to HSG! Sure you all got the email on that one!

Now this only has happened to me one other time. The rep told me there would be a 24-48hr. Approval Wait , due to customers Insurance needing to be "VERIFIED"

So unlike the time before where I basically had to eat that repair, I stopped, explained to the customer what was going on and scheduled it in for repair first thing this AM!

Well, done the repair and still have no Auth#. I did however call GMAC and spoke with a rep in regards and once again was told the insurance was being verified!

Seriously!!!!!!! How long does it truly take for a Verification????

So, I'm hoping I don't eat this one as well!

I will however promise myself this one, next time, I'll encourage the customer to "POP" for the repair!!!!! :D

Were you actually talking to GMAC or were you talking to Harmon? Do not hit the push # ? to forward you to the glass claims dept....
Talk directly to GMAC.
Maybe you did. not sure.... If you are not sure, ask them if they are GMAC or Harman solutions or what ever they are this yr.

On a previous post several weeks ago I commented on problems I have had with Harmon. Hopefully got it straightened out. With most all companies that may happen but if I judge my customers right they have necessary comp coverage so I go ahead and repair never had a problem with that, they always come through.
However last week on a Gieco call they actually told the customer they had to send an ajusster out to look at the w/s. I had a few words with the supervisor and got the dispatch number.

I have had this happen in the past and finally figured out that the date of loss the customer gave me was before the renewal date of the policy. Apparently the network only has the current info on the cust. so they have to contact the insurance co. to get the info from the previous years policy to make sure the cust. was covered at that time. Now I check the cust. proof of ins card for policy dates and use a date of loss after the renewal date to avoid waiting for approval. I know this is not quite proper procedure, but if I know the cust has had the same coverage for years I'm just saving the network some extra work and me and the cust. some waiting time. You could see if this is what happened to you if you can go back to the cust. and ask to compare his renewal date to the date of loss he gave you. I have never had to "eat one" because I had to wait for authorization. You could still call in to find out why that inv. never got paid.

Just a update to this post. I have spoken to a "Adjuster" and have been told that it's possible this vehicle wasn't covered at the time of DOL. So as I expected, however it brings forth a 3rd party investigation team? Didn't know we had CSI on board in the WSR Industry!

This lady told me; there is no ETA of when my company will be paid for this repair!

So what would you do?
Call the customer letting them know thier insurance didnt pay, so now, they need to pay up?
Send them a invoice, along with a letter explaining the issue?

Just thought I'd get everyones opinion on this! I know what I am going to do!

Had this happen to me in January the 20th to be exact. I went ahead with the repair after discussing with my customer that if I couldn't collect from the insurance co. (21st Centry N American ins. Co.0) that I would need to collect the funds from him. I had my customer sign and initial my invoice, fixed his windshield, shook his hand and went on my way. I was finally paid by the insurance co on March 24th. That is the first and only time I have experienced an authorization wait period.

I have only ran into a situation like this a few times. I called the customer and told them insurance was not going to pay and the customer mailed me a check. It's not your fault they aren't covered and more than likely the customer knew all along they weren't covered. Pay up sucka!
