Maxima, no offense but I'm starting to get a headache. Dude you are making this way too complicated. Read ALL of the posts, archives included. You should be able to get 90% of your questions answered from that material. If you want to start making money, buy a kit, practice repairs, get phone line, fax line, DBA, get sales tax certificate(if applicable in your state), sign up with Lynx and Safelite, use GlassComp for your billing, go out and hustle up some business, get paid. There it is in a nutshell. Life Rewards Action.

Hey GRT,
I wish I could do that, But I would feel really vulnerable to being taken advatage of without knowing what all these terms mean, What all the network advantages and dis-advantages are. I don't like paying stupid taxes. The taxes that you pay when you do something stupid! Like don't learn about something especially a business your getting into.
I do not have a problem with jumping into the biz with a kit a lots of practice. Even after I turned my ideas into actions I would still be asking the same questions about networks, payment methods, Fees, Terms used, and necessary paper work to fill out.
Will somebody give me a little One-On one here? If not I will have to personally call every company to get a better understanding. I will call :
Lynxs, Safelite, ACT, and Glass comp. I will request every piece of paper work I can get my hands on.

Considering you can get a basic kit that will cover %90 of your needs for adout $400 and have several resources like this forum to collect info from how much research do you need to do? so you only do 10 or 12 repairs decide you dont like it or its too hard to do you paid for what you bought on just a few repairs and havnt lost anything. Your making this way too difficult !Now I to have a headache

I just called safelite to get the registration forms coming to me. I found out that safelite has a repair shop in my local area. What are they doing repairing
glass when they help the people that repair the glass?
Why would they help do paperwork for their competition?
I talked to 4 people that kept transferring me to other people claiming they did'nt know what forms I was talking about. I only found out that they repair class!!!
I have a headache too! I quit so nevermind. just forget it!!!!

Dude, go to the search button type in insurance, grab a cold one cuz there will be a whole lot of reading to do. No offense but you need to weed through all the previous topics on billing and insurance, then ask questions.
There alot of very professional people here who do this day in and day out, but you have to do some legwork on your own, show that you made an attempt to educate yourself and people will be happy to help you. We are here to help but do not have time for spoon feeding.

GRT,
Thanks for posting that statement! I was starting to get a headache also! Head was hurting so bad I didn't want to respond!
Maxima,
Some starters advice! Start out your business thinking in the box for a while and not so far out of it!!!
I don't want to sound too harsh "but I think you really need to get your feet wet first". You should not be thinking so much about how to maximize (no pun intended

) insurance profits right now!! You should be more focused on some of the basics. Like how to get this business going, get as many repairs under your belt as you can, work on improving the quality of your service and then and only then begin asking for more. If your good, you'll probably get it!
When I first started in repair.....I was giving out "free" repairs for a month to anybody and everybody I knew.... just to get the experience! Once I felt comfortable enough with the quality of service I was providing, then I started thinking how much money I could make!
Just don't forget that you need to be good at something before you can make money doing it!!!

Maxima, if you are not willing to spend the time it would take to explore this forum and it's archives to find the answers to your questions. You should first sit down and seriously consider whether you should go into business for yourself. All of your posts seem as if you just want us to do it for you. This forum is a very valuable resource. I wish I had it when I went into business. You are doing yourself a grave disservice unless you sit down and read it from beginning to end.

Chris,
You need a seperate phone line for your fax machine, a network requirement. Fax machines are great to have for your business. Most machines distinguish between a regular phone call and a fax. They also make great copy machines!
I've used a cell phone from day one along with a voice mail pager. You've got to have a cell phone because the networks will call you with a dispatch # and most of the time have the customer on the line also.
If you are out working and a network calls you with a customer (not very often) and you are able to do the repair today, DO IT. When you get back home your fax should be waiting for you with all the specifics. Where it says customer signature, put "customer not available".
I do not have a seperate line for my business (at home). The networks I use have my cell phone number. This brings up another food for thought. What will you use for your primary business phone number? One that appears on your business cards, invoices, yellow page ads etc.
Actually, I'll ask the forum. What do you use for your physical phone number? Answering service, cell phone, pager or maybe a land line phone forwarded to your cell phone?
