ring around the bullseye
This was a bullseye and is now gone but still has a ring within the 2 layers of glass. My wifes van and just got around to doing it. Its prob at least 6 months old i suppose. Anyone have any ideas what can be done ? It looks larger than it really is. Probably about the size of a pinky fingernail but still bad. Something like this need to be made into a star?

Replace it if you can't live with it.

Did you see any moisture prior to repair and dry it out? Looks to me something was in there and was trapped in outer ring. Not much you can do with it now. No need to replace, cause it won't get any worse or better. Not sure what you meant by making it into a star. Please explain further.

Re: ring around the bullseye
99 pontiac montana . Its tinted towards the top of the windshield but this circle is right in the middle. not even close to the top. Like i said before though, it as a bullseye and all fingers were looped in so none were touching the ring. I'll drill it and see what happens. Just wasnt sure, never seen anything like it before so i thought i would ask.
Thanks
Thanks

If the halo looks hollow and you want to get rid of it, what do you have to loose. Drill and fill it. Whats the worst that could happen. You will gain some experience. Its your vehicle. Take your time. Also look at it with a magnifying glass. Have agood day.

Re: ring around the bullseye
The Pontiac Montana is one of the vehicles that came factory equipped with a solar control windshield. In the sun they appear to have a purplish tint to them and bug will indicate they are a PPG Sungate product.
The Sungate windshield is notorious for leaving a whitish ring around the damaged area even before the repair is attempted. I have not seen it look any worse after the repair but the white ring often remains. Drilling is not going to help if this is the case because what you are seeing is not air, it's damage to the solar coating. "The Sungate windshield incorporates a multi-layer transparent metal/metal oxide coating on the inboard surface of the outer glass."

If it's not a Sungate windshield disregard this post for now but keep it in mind if you run across this vehicle again. Always check the bug and know what you are working on before you start a repair.

I agree with Brent, we have experienced a lot of that style of glass over here.
Just a question though, how were you so sure it was perfectly dry?
